Repurpose an Old Wine Rack <--> Organize the Things

Repurposed Wine Rack Close ViewIn my new era of DIY-ing, I’ve come to realize there are so many things I’ve given away or otherwise replaced in the past that I now know could have simply been repurposed – saving time, money, and energy all around – as well as adding a certain homey charm and truly unique decor to our home.

This cute little wine rack was always a fave, so I never got rid of it, though just haven’t been able to find the right place for it for a few years now.  It’s a lightweight wrought-iron with an inset resin wood-grain top that, a couple rounds ago, I painted white, with a metallic champagne for the inset.

The paint did wonders to take it from a basic, everyday wine rack that once upon a time I purchased to put in a very specific space, to something that was really interesting and would get lots of attention from visitors.  When in doubt… slap on a coat of paint and vive la différence!

At any rate, I needed a small console table for the upstairs to add some interest to a long narrow hallway… and also needed a place to store my exploding collection of yarn.  Enter unused but much loved wine rack and Voila!   A pop of bright flowers and a mirror above to add some light, a jute runner below for texture – and I’m super in love with this – especially because it adds some softness and warmth to the guest bedroom wing.  Repurposed Wine Rack Far View

I still tend to gravitate to cool colors and clean lines even in my French country cottage phase now, based in my former passion for contemporary style, so I’m always looking for ways to warm things up a bit.  This definitely does the trick, and has the added bonus of putting my yarn within daily view.  I’ve actually been getting a few more knitting crafts done since placing it there – an inspiration to do more of the same with future organization projects!

So, what do you think?  What other ideas do you have for repurposing old wine racks?  What items have you happily repurposed in your own home? Would love to hear your ideas and inspirations!

Love and light,

Samadhi  ✷
