It’s a New Day and I’m Feelin’ Good

Dont Have to be Perfect - SteinbeckI never have been much of a journal person.  Any diary, notebook, or calendar meant for recording the ins and outs of day-to-day life, confessing my innermost thoughts and feelings, or even just keeping track of appointments and other obligations has often lain empty or abandoned after a few paltry attempts at use.

Maybe it’s because I keep so much in my mental filing system. I’m lucky enough to have landed a photographic memory, though with a seeming total inability to organize outside of my head. No doubt, this has left many a frustrated parent, teacher, employer and friend in my wake over the years… but all in all, I do ok. As the saying goes, “A messy desk is the sign of an organized mind.”Alas, I’ve reached a place where my need to keep track of things outweighs a lifetime’s habit of finding every which way around that. The last seven years have entailed 3 major moves, with 3 new homes in 3 new towns, and in the process, I’ve become a regular DIY kind of gal.  I’ve renovated and decorated, purged, stored and staged, upsized, downsized, and finally now right-sized… with “SIMPLIFY” as my daily mantra.  It’s been creative, grueling at times, and oh-so-satisfying when the work is done – not to mention super fun.

The most valuable thing in all of this, though, has been learning how many resources I already have, and things I already know – and how much I could figure out how to do… that I never would have imagined until I was challenged to do it.  I believe that each of us has an unlimited capacity – to do anything we imagine – and to go far beyond our wildest dreams when we direct our energy to bring a vision to fruition.  In this way, this journey of the last few years has not only been about becoming a modern-day “Rosie the Riveter,” but a spiritual exploration as well.

So with that said, I have done so many projects, figured out how to do so many new things, and taken so many pictures of my work…. but without a way to organize it all, I’ve ended up without much record of my “Before” and “After” modes, or even how I got there.  When I want to do a project again, it’s like starting from scratch… and forget about sharing my methods with friends and family who want to do the same.

Now, the day has come. Life as I’ve known it is about to change, my friends.  It’s time once and for all to get organized – and this site is the way I’m going to do it!  In the process, I hope you will take the ride along with me as I share my projects here, including home renovations, decorating projects, fresh, healthy recipes, crafts, natural home and personal care ideas, and more.  Here we go!

Love and light,

Samadhi ✷
